What worked for me (and what didn't): In my review of the first book Quid Pro Quo, I mentioned that Tristan was not well known because it was told from Jared's point of view. Delightfully, this story is told from Tristan's perspective so I feel I have a better handle on the couple now. I know from the first book, that Jared was very attracted to Tristan. In this book, which takes place some little time afterwards, Tristan has found himself smitten but is uncertain of Jared's affections. Because there has been some time which has passed and Tristan acknowledges that he recognised Jared's crush earlier, the reader is left in somewhat delicious doubt of Jared's affections - just as Tristan himself is.
This book is more romantic, in that, as a whole, we now have the perspectives of both men and we know they have more than a professional interest in each other (although we may not know the extent of it). I can see that this is kind of like a slow building romance over a series of shorts - each one erotic but each one also advancing the romantic plot bit by bit. This actually made me like the story better because my romance buttons got a bit of a push.
Mr. Rolex returns for a re-match and Tristan is delighted - Rolex is mainly a watcher so it's almost like he has Jared to himself. And Tristan has plans.
Which are (rubs hands together) turned on their head when Jared is asked by Rolex to give Tristan a sexy lap dance.
The sex is super hot and there wasn't the same discomfort for me this time when Mr. Rolex got himself a little more involved - although the developing romance is only between the two rentboys.
I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next with Tristan and Jared.
